The Making of an EJS Cushion
Handcrafted by skilled craftspeople in the UK, there are 7 steps that go into the making of each and every cushion. We travelled to our factory, west of London to learn more about each part of the ethical production process.
1. Our magical designs are digitally printed onto our sumptuous silk and luxurious velvet fabrics.
2. The rolls of printed fabric are sent to our UK-based cushion makers
3. The front, back and piping pattern pieces are carefully cut
4. Each pattern piece is overlocked to remove the raw edges of the fabric and give a clean finish, ready to sew.
5. The Emma J Shipley label is added to the back of the cushion, and velvet piping or fringing is sewn in.
6. Our talented seamstresses sew together each part of cushion and add our hidden zip
7. Each cushion is stuffed with our luxurious feather-filled cushion pads
