Returns & Exchanges


For items other than fabrics and wallpapers, if for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your online purchase and wish to return it for a refund, please ensure that the goods are returned in perfect saleable condition, in their original packaging, and with invoice as proof of purchase within 14 days of receipt to:

Our policy lasts 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since you received your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange (except for Christmas gifts where the period is extended). 

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.  

To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.  

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of shipping will be deducted from your refund. 

Please note all packages sent back to us for either returns or exchange are put into a 48 Hour quarantine when it arrives back with us, which can add a slight delay to us sending refunds or exchange items. 

Fabric and Wallpaper Returns

We do not accept back fabric and wallpaper samples unless faulty.

We do not accept back any fabric orders under 5m in length unless faulty and unprocessed i.e. not cut or treated in any way.

We accept faulty returns providing the product has not been processed i.e. cut fabric or hung wallpaper. If, you have changed your mind then we will accept returns but there is a restocking charge of 25% plus the cost of delivery.

If you have cut the fabric we unfortunately cannot accept returns. We recommend checking all fabric orders before cutting.

If the fabric is faulty, we will send out a replacement with free delivery.

We accept wallpaper returns providing it is still in the wrapping and undamaged. Again, there is a restocking fee of 25% plus the cost of delivery.

Claims will not be accepted for changes in appearance of a fabric after it has been treated, either by spraying or processing of any kind, including flameproofing and stain repellent. 

Claims will not be accepted for fading - all fabrics eventually fade.

Claims will not be accepted for residual and atmospheric shrinkage, as this is not the fault of the fabric but due to temperature and humidity changes. 

Furniture Returns

We offer a 14 day money back guarantee for our furniture pieces. If you purchase a piece of furniture from us and then decide for any reason it’s not right for you we will arrange its collection and provide you with a full refund. If you'd like to arrange a return please contact us on info@emmajshipley.com. Please note that you will need to cover the delivery cost.


Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within 5 days. 

Faulty Items 

If you have received your order and an item is faulty please contact us within 14 working days of receiving the item so we can arrange for a replacement.

Late or missing refunds 

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. 

Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.

Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items 

Sale items can also be exchanged or refunded as above - to the value of the amount paid at the time of your order.


If you need to exchange you purchase for the same item or something of equivalent value, please send us an email at sales@emmajshipley.com and send your item to: Emma J Shipley Ltd, Hartstock, Broomfield Hill, Great Missenden, Bucks GB HP16 9HT. Please add a note with your order number in and what you’d like to exchange it for so we know what you’d like.


If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be emailed to you. 

If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and they will find out about your return.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of shipping will be deducted from your refund.  

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary. 

The cost of returning the goods and the safe return of goods is your responsibility until the order is received at our returns depot; therefore we suggest you arranged a tracked or recorded delivery service. For high-value items we recommend you insure the costs of goods before you send them. We will issue a full refund to the card used when placing the order once the return has been processed. Please allow up to 10-15 days for a full refund from date of receipt of goods.
