Open Studio Evening
20th May 2014
We’ve just started to feel settled in our new studio on Mare Street in Hackney after moving in last month, so we felt it would be wrong to not celebrate our new space without a little party...
This was the thinking behind our open studio night that we hosted last week in our new home. We invited friends, fellow designers, collaborators and press to swing by for a drink and a chance to view some of Emma’s original work. The evening sun filled our airy studio and a jungle-inspired bouquet (complete with pink pineapples) created by Hackney’s favourite florists, Rebel Rebel, made the space a tropical paradise for the night!
A selection of scarves from past, present and future collections were on show, alongside original framed drawings, womenswear pieces from our collaboration with Teija and our soon-to-be-launched Atelier Swarovski jewellery collection. However our guests seemed just as interested rifling through Emma’s book collection and peeking at her moodboards.
Lemongrass and cardamon gin and tonics came courtesy of Butler’s Gin - which is made in Hackney and makes a perfect G&T with sliced cucumber and ice. We also had Pop Chips to satisfy our snack cravings and enjoy with a few drinks.
The evening was the ideal opportunity to introduce our friends and supporters to our studio and gave them a chance to view the facilities within the Centre for Fashion Enterprise building, where our studio sits among other designers such as Phoebe English, Craig Green and Marques Almeida.
All in all it was a great success - and a fantastic way to see in the start of summer here at Emma J Shipley HQ! Keep posted for more news by signing up to our newsletter and following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
