We've been counting down the days ahead of the launch of the much-anticipated Polar Collection, which officially hit the online store today! The collection takes a trip to the arctic and antarctic, with an expedition of penguins, a striped polar bear observing his icy aurora backdrop and arctic foxes with winged helmets and feet. Despite the recent weather being far from snowy, we can't help but think the pieces will make a perfect statement for winter dressing and Christmas gifts come December...

As always, Emma's inspiration for the collection came from far and wide. A visit to the Scott Polar Institute in Cambridge enabled her to view original artefacts and photographs from the great expeditions of Scott, Shackleton and Peary, all of which have influenced the look and feel of the collection. The cracked ice patterns that feature in the designs are a response to the threat that climate change has to the fragile environment these animals live in.

Emma named the Odin design (featuring four intertwined arctic foxes) after the Norse king of the gods who provided the inspiration for this print. We particularly like the softly coloured lilac and rose foxes in luxurious sheer silk.

Early scientific studies of arctic and antarctic animals, detailed maps and instruments have also been key inspirations for the Polar collection - alongside one of Emma's favourite books, the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman.
For the first time, we had the pleasure of photographing a model in the campaign images that were shot by Claire Huish (read our Q&A with her here) back in February. With the help of super stylist Coline Bach, we pinned and draped the scarves across our lovely model (who's hair was caked with mountains of glitter) and turned on the wind machines! The result is a selection of images that capture the ethereal and magical spirit of the Polar Collection, alongside an accompanying fashion film that brings the scarves to life.

Keep an eye out for the collection landing in stores such as Liberty and Harvey Nichols as we speak - however you can shop the whole collection on the online store now. Finally, don't forget to view all the images from our Polar campaign over in the online gallery to get a real feel for the penguins and polar bears that make up the collection. We hope you're as taken with them as we are...
