The conceptual artist Joan Fontcuberta is one of the many inspirations behind our Constellation collection. In particular his recent 'Stranger than Fiction' exhibition at the Science Museum, London, where the artist created six fictional documentaries, mixing fact with fiction and science with art. The realistic yet subversive photography tricks the eye into believing what you see, including fantasy mermaid fossils or fused new specimens of fauna.

Photographs such as this monkey with a horned head like a unicorn and owl-like wings, make you question if what you see is real. We were inspired by the fantastical world created by the Spanish artist, mixing animal features to develop imaginative creatures for our Constellation realm, such as marsupials with the tail of a peacock or rabbits with the legs of a sparrow.
