Emma J ShipleyCapturing beautiful animals on paper is kind of our thing, yet this is quite the challenge when the subject won't sit still! We were delighted to head to Somerset House for a Wildlife Drawing class featuring birds of prey.
What a treat! Indulging in two hours of drawing, getting up close and personal with magnificent hawks, falcons, owls and kestrels brought in from experienced falconers, Sky Birds of Prey. They talked us through the protection laws in place for the birds and how these stunning creatures evolved to be such expert hunters. Each bird inspired us with their own unique colouring and characteristics.

The events are run by visual artist Jennie Webber, who collaborates with different wildlife groups to bring you unusual creatures to admire and observe. The aim of each drawing project is to inspire a sense of appreciation and understanding for the animals and conservation issues around the globe.

Our class showcased a variety of talents and skills among the artists however no drawing experience is necessary and all the materials are supplied for you. Jennie's on hand in each class to encourage your creative eye and help you to capture the detail, pattern and anatomy of the model.
