Our Top 10 Highlights of 2014!

1. Disney Tinker Bell Collection

September was a big month for the fashion world, but even more so for us as it saw the launch of our collaboration with Disney on a range of Tinker Bell inspired scarves. The collection features Tinker Bell sprinkling her fairy dust over an enchanted scene which includes Big Ben, Peter Pan and Skull Rock to name a few. We were overwhelmed with the reaction towards the pieces and can't wait for it to hit the shops in early 2015!

2. Studio move

2014 was the year that Emma J Shipley HQ upped sticks and moved to our new Hackney studio (which happens to be a stone's throw from our old Hackney studio...) in the Centre for Fashion Enterprise. We're lucky enough to call talented designers Danielle Romeril and Craig Green our neighbours, and even more lucky have a glorious space surrounded by the wonderful mentoring from the CFE. To celebrate the move, we hosted an open studio evening, inviting our friends and supporters along for a Butler's gin and tonic on a sunny evening in the studio. Here's to another year at EJS HQ!

3. Polar Collection Campaign Shoot

Back in February it was all hands to the pump for the photoshoot of the Polar Collection, shot by the talented Claire Huish (you can read our Q&A with Claire here) and styled by Coline Bach. Wind machines were switched on at full speed and glitter was quite literally everywhere as we created the ethereal effect of the Polar Campaign. Keep an eye out in early 2014 for the brand new images from the Aesop Collection Campaign, produced again by our favourite team but taking a very different twist...

4. UKFT Awards

2013 saw Emma scoop the prestigious RISE Newcomer prize at the UK Fashion and Textile Awards, but it was this year that Emma headed back to sit back and enjoy the ceremony free from all of the pressures of being an award winner! The evening played host to several industry leaders, including Hilary Alexander and Dame Maragret Barbour. Emma styled her Acne shirt dress with the Audubon silk scarf as a belt whilst dancing to the early hours... See you next year UKFT!

5. Atelier Swarovski press breakfast

An early morning 'high breakfast' was enjoyed in Soho's Ham Yard Hotel for the official launch of the Atelier Swarovski x Emma J Shipley collection. It was a chance for guests to view the collection whilst enjoying a cup of coffee and a miniature breakfast goodie (we adored the goats cheese and spinach croissants). Discover more about the snow leopard inspired collection here.

6. Port Eliot

It may be the depths of freezing winter right now but rewind back to a boiling summer weekend down in Cornwall for Port Eliot festival. Emma designed the official artwork for the festival and headed down for a few days to host a bandana-making workshop in the glorious grounds of the Port Eliot estate. Suzy Menkes and Simone Rocha were among the other guests of the wardrobe department, where fashion workshops and talks took place during this festival of art, music, literature and more.

7. Womenswear launch

It was a first for the EJS team in 2014 with our debut line of ready-to-wear previewing during London and Paris fashion weeks. The capsule collection included sheer silk kaftans, cotton and silk shirts and luxurious wide-leg trousers in some of Emma's signature designs. The pieces garnered heaps of attention, particularly at Somerset House where the September heatwave was perfect for testing out the resort wear and we're so excited to see it launch officially next year online and in stores...

8. Imedeen

Here at Emma J Shipley we've had a great year for collaborations and beauty brand Imedeen was no exception. The skin supplement experts chose us for their first ever designer collaboration and we were honoured to design a sea-inspired tote bag featuring a seahorse, shells, coral and plenty of fish. We were also thrilled to take up residency at Boots on High Street Kensington for an afternoon, where Emma was signing bags for Imedeen customers and fans alike. Read more about the launch here.

9. Grimm Tales

A recent highlight for the team was a trip to the Bargehouse in Oxo Tower Wharf for a night of storytelling courtesy of Philip Pullman's Grimm Tales. The production took us on a twisted tale through the mind of the Grimm Brothers and their enchanting and dark tales, acted out by a compelling cast in a setting like no other. We'll also be announcing very soon a collaboration with the Grimm's production team on a very special project that we can't wait to share with you...

10. Paris Fashion Week

And last but by no means least, a year wouldn't be complete without visiting the French capital for our favourite and most extravagant fashion week. Despite the long days and hard work, the Paris sun shone down on us in September and we enjoyed an evening boat cruise past the Eiffel tower, sipping on champagne along the way. There was also time for a spot of second-hand shopping, a roller disco and lots and lots of lovely food (of course). Check out our top Paris moments here.

Finally we'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year from the Emma J Shipley team! We'll see you in 2015...
