Prowling jaguars and iridescent birds inhabit the world of 'Animalia' - an enchanting new collections of fabrics and wallcoverings borne from an exciting collaboration with Clarke & Clarke. Whilst the collection launches early next year, we were delighted to preview it to industry professionals within the stunning surroundings of the Barbican Conservatory. Prepare to be truly overwhelmed by the beauty of nature - within the range of interiors and in the setting itself...
This collection takes the viewer on an epic journey, discovering new species and curious beasts in maximalist jungle environments. The illustrations are taken from Emma's original detailed pencil drawings, inspired by her trips to the Amazon, Africa and the Far East. The designs evoke a feeling of exploration and wonder; jaguars loom out of dense foliage as flora grows with animal characteristics, and scientific specimens and hybrids are discovered for the first time in this pictorial exploration of far-off continents.
Clarke & Clarke's exciting collaboration with us presents a menagerie of co-ordinating fabric and wallpaper, incorporating rich velvets, luxurious satins and shimmering effects. Together, the designs and finishing accentuate the fantastical nature of EJS. Mystic, magical and exotic, 'Animalia' features tropical parrots, swinging monkeys and fierce tigers, depicting dark, dramatic colours and emphasising the intensity of the jungle.
The preview day itself was a great success - attendees included journalists, buyers, VIP guests and industry contacts, all of whom praised the unique and unparalleled collection. Five large boards filled the concrete space in the conservatory, covered in wallpaper samples from the range. Magnificent chairs, antique suitcases, sofas and cushions were ornately upholstered in the luxurious fabrics, completing the set-up for the day. But, no collection launch is complete without a decadent selection of food and drink (bubbly included...)
