It’s that time of year again when we pack up the EJS studio and head out on the road for fashion season, all starting at Somerset House for London Fashion Week! We’re here for five days in the Designer Showrooms amongst a whole host of other established and emerging fashion talent. To keep you well and truly in the loop, we’ll be keeping a diary of each day and posting it up here on the blog so you don’t miss a moment of what the Emma J Shipley team get up to at London Fashion Week! Expect a few familiar faces, plenty of sneak peeks of the brand new collection (which will be launching later this year…) and follow our behind the scenes footsteps as we preview the new pieces to press and buyers…

Somerset House was full of buzz as we headed into the showroom for Day 1! This season the EJS team have taken up residency in the first floor ready-to-wear showrooms to present our biggest ever collection of resort wear. Silk t-shirts, fitted shirts and semi-sheer kimonos are all making a debut appearance this season, to create a colourful collection featuring some of our signature prints and some extra special new ones.

Friend of the brand and materials designer Marie Parsons popped by and gave us a lesson in how to style our new long silk kimonos, with her slick black and navy look providing the perfect compliment to the statement kimonos. We particularly love the silk Tigris kimono with her super fresh Nike trainers and paired-back bob! Marie has a keen eye for style and so there was no better visitor to try on some of the new pieces and give us some outfit inspiration!

Day 1 of London Fashion Week couldn't have ended without a well-deserved drink, and we enjoyed a glass of champagne with our neighbouring exhibitors to round off the day and toast to a successful season!
After the showroom closed its doors, we headed off across the road to the Ada Zanditon couture party at the luxurious ME Hotel to celebrate the designer's couture collection for LFW. In association with Drama magazine, the party played host to a number of Zanditon-clad models who wandered the room and displayed the designer's heavily embellished and beautifully detailed pieces.

It was the ideal opportunity to see the intricately constructed pieces up close and the plush surroundings of the ME Hotel provided the perfect backdrop for the glittering couture collection. Sipsmith gin and tonics were the tipple of choice and Emma even managed to grab a spare moment with Ada for a picture before she darted off to no doubt party the night away!

Stayed tuned for the next instalment in our London Fashion Week diary tomorrow and don't forget to follow our social updates throughout the week to see exclusive snapshots from the event! We can't wait to share more with you...
