Story

Welcome to Emma J Shipley’s uncharted land of curious creatures, inspired by myths, legends and the unique beauty of the natural world…

Emma J Shipley is a British graphic artist creating homeware and accessories for nature lovers, dreamers and maximalists. Emma has always had a fascination with nature and animals, in particular those from the most extreme and wild places on Earth, such as the jungles of South America and the savannahs of Africa. She mixes inspiration from her own travels with a fervent imagination and fictional influences such as myths, legends, and fairytales, to create a unique and fantastical world of design. The designs are all hand-drawn in pencil, before being intricately digitally coloured, giving a distinctive look combining traditional and cutting-edge techniques.

The brand launched at London Fashion Week in 2012, after Emma graduated from the Royal College of Art. Emma won multiple awards for her drawing and designs on graduation, and has since won business awards in the UK and internationally, including the WGSN Global Fashion Award for Emerging Brand. The famous boutique Browns launched Emma’s graduate collection of printed scarves, and our collections are now stocked in some of the best department stores and boutiques around the world, including Harrods and Fortnum’s in London.

Creations include home furnishings, accessories, luxury scarves and more, all adorned in Emma’s colourful and intricately-drawn fantasy artworks. We make each and every piece ethically, in premium materials, always minimising our impact on the environment.

Emma J Shipley has always been committed to protecting the natural world, and, in particular, endangered species. We have given back to nature via a number of charity collaborations over the years, and in 2020 we launched an ongoing collaboration with World Land Trust, with our initial goal to plant 1,000 trees to reforest endangered wildlife habitat. Since 2020, we've planted over 5,000 trees, surpassing multiple goals and now have a target of 10,000 trees planted for endangered wildlife habitat.

Emma J Shipley creates magical designs that spark the imagination, to be treasured for years to come…
